Andreas Pinkwart Appointed Senior Professor for Strategic Entrepreneurship at the University of Bonn

Professor Andreas Pinkwart is to take on a new Senior Professorship for Strategic Entrepreneurship at the University of Bonn with effect from October 1, 2026, a role that will see him support the Rectorate with the continued development of its strategic transfer concept. The University of Excellence is thus gaining the services of one of the most distinguished individuals straddling the boundaries between research, innovation, entrepreneurship and politics.

New Fraunhofer Building to Strengthen Poppelsdorf Campus as an AI Research Hub

A new Fraunhofer Society center to host research into AI, data analysis and high-performance computing is to be built on Poppelsdorf Campus at the University of Bonn. A verdict has now been reached in the architectural competition for the Fraunhofer Center for Next Generation High Performance Data Analytics and Computing (NG-HPDAC), with first prize going to Munich-based Henn Architekten.

Global study shows: Most people cooperate

People around the world are more cooperative than we believe. This is shown by a new study in the renowned scientific journal Science, authored by Prof. Dr. Armin Falk (University of Bonn), together with Prof. Teodora Boneva (University of Bonn), Prof. Peter Andre (Goethe University Frankfurt), and Prof. Dr. Felix Chopra (Frankfurt School of Finance).

Two in One Go

What is the best way to shape the future of waterfront cities in the Global South in the face of challenges like climate change? How are conflicts overcome in various different cultures? These key questions are now to be explored by two new Research Training Groups (RTGs) at the University of Bonn. Alongside the University Hospital Bonn as a partner, the proposal was also submitted together with a university of applied sciences for the first time in the shape of Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS). The German Research Foundation (DFG) is providing the two institutions with millions of euros in funding to train doctoral students. Across Germany, the DFG will be supporting 10 new RTGs in all from fall 2026 onward.

Prof. Dr. Dominik Bach's research uses artificial intelligence to advance our understanding of mental illnesses. He is the Hertz Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Neuroscience.
