University of Bonn Days

The “University of Bonn Days” are held every November. Focusing on specific disciplines, they enable high school students to find out all they need to know and obtain comprehensive advice. Use the event as an opportunity to get to know our subjects and thus make an informed decision about your future studies.

Registration and times

Saturday, November 13, 2021
10.00 am to 3.00 pm

Saturday, November 20, 2021                10.00 am to 3.00 pm

On both days, Vice Rectorate for Learning, Teaching and University Development Prof. Dr. Klaus Sandmann will open the event at 10.00 am and welcome you to the University. The Central Study Advisory and Counseling Service (ZSB) will then give a general presentation, sharing information about opportunities for student orientation and choosing the right program, the application process, admissions and enrollment. The Bonn Center for Teacher Education (BZL) will talk briefly about the main aspects of a teaching degree.

From 11:00 am onward on both days, you will be able to attend presentations by the various academic disciplines and find out useful information on the content and main areas of focus of the programs, their structure and schedule, any recommended prior knowledge and career prospects in the field.

Note: All presentations will begin punctually on the hour and last around 45 minutes. You will therefore have enough time to switch lecture halls between presentations.

The afternoon agenda includes numerous advice sessions as well as taster lectures, institute and museum tours, workshops and discussions with students and lecturers who work at the institutions. We would particularly like to recommend this part of the event to you. Get to know our academic disciplines in more detail, talk to subject representatives and take the opportunity to ask the questions that are important to you personally.

The “advisors’ marketplace” runs from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. Here, you can visit stalls run by the Central Study Advisory and Counseling Service, the Career Center and the representative for students with disabilities as well as the Student Advice Centre at Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences and the Bonn Employment Agency. Ask the advisors your questions on studying and choosing a career and take some information material away with you. Many subject-specific student counselors will also be on hand at the marketplace to field more in-depth queries.

Parents are often the first people their children turn to when they are finding their way around the idea of studying or deciding what path to take next in their lives. But how can they provide useful support? What role can parents play in accompanying their child on their journey to a university degree?
Parents who are keen to attend the University of Bonn Days together with their children and give them meaningful support in their decision-making process can come to a talk entitled “Providing informed support to student orientation” given by the Central Study Advisory and Counseling Service from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm on both days.

You can simply turn up to the presentations, the advisors’ marketplace and most afternoon events. Prior registration is required for a few events due to the limited number of places available. These cases will be indicated on the program.

We will provide a confirmation of attendance on this page for you to show your school. It will be available here in due course as a PDF to download. You can print it off and have it signed by the relevant speakers at the event. You will also be able to obtain a confirmation of attendance on site from the Central Study Advisory and Counseling Service stand at the advisors’ marketplace.
