Starting Your Studies

Great to have you on board with us!

Starting university is a personal and unique experience – a new chapter in life that’s exciting, opening up myriad new opportunities in parallel. Embarking on your studies marks a new chapter in your life that will differ in many aspects from your usual ways of living and working. We want to help you get ready for the transition to university studies in a positive and systematic way and make sure you independently co-shape your start into your studies.

Study Compass

Receive a complimentary print copy of the Study Compass and of “forsch,” the University magazine, conveniently and contact-free, at the Studying at the University of Bonn info box and other pick-up boxes (Google Maps).

You can also acquire a copy of the “Study Compass” from your responsible examination authority or your subject-specific student advisory services/degree program management during their opening/office hours.

Improving digital studies

Studying in a primarily digital semester (again) is not always easy. We have created a portal to help you take on this challenge, providing an overview of all important issues and current developments. It includes a calendar with various related events and offerings. In addition, our new EmPOWERed! program offers a variety of self-learning courses and training sessions for successful management of (digital) studies.
