The University also offers these resources to support you as you adjust to your new home:

  • Welcome Event 2020: The Bonn Graduate Center and the International Office would like to warmly welcome all new and other interested doctoral researchers to the University of Bonn. The virtual networking event on December 2nd aims to inform you about the numerous support offerings at the university and put you in touch with your German and international colleagues.

International Office Help Desk

The University’s International Office assists doctoral candidates who do not have proficient German language skills. They can help you navigate German bureaucracy, sign a lease, open a bank account, obtain health insurance, secure a residence permit and more.

Mentoring and Support

The University offers a welcome meeting and a “No Worries” support group for new international students – as well as tours, cultural workshops and social activities. In addition, our “Pro-Buddy Program” will connect you with a German doctoral candidate who can answer questions and help you settle in.

German Language Classes

As an international doctoral candidate or visiting scholar, you may enroll in German classes at the University of Bonn through the International Office.
