Graduate Programs in Medicine and Life Sciences
The Faculty of Medicine offers – partially, in cooperation with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences – e.g., graduate programs in medical biochemistry, neurosciences, and pharmacology. In addition, there are two cross-disciplinary graduate programs; the SciMed Doctoral College, and the THEME Graduate School.
Supported by the BONFOR-Förderprogramm of the Faculty of Medicine, the Doctoral College offers scientific doctoral training for students in medicine and dental medicine leading to a Dr. med./Dr. med. dent. degree.
Neuroscience (in cooperation with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences)
BIGS Neuroscience is committed to providing a top-level, internationally competitive program in the rapidly developing field of neuroscience.
Located at the newly inaugurated SFB 1089 on neuronal networks, the Integrated Research Training Group offers a structured graduate program for all doctoral researchers at the Centre.
The Graduate Program, supported by the Else Kroener Foundation, focuses on interactions between the immune system and various neurological diseases - like Alzheimer's disease, brain tumors and epilepsy.
Building on a cooperation between Bonn University, the Max Planck associated center of advanced european studies and research (caesar), the Max Planck Florida Institute for Neuroscience (MPFI) and Florida Atlantic University, this graduate school offers a complete PhD training and research program in the neurosciences.
Pharma Research (in cooperation with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences)
The International Graduate School of Drug Sciences is for Bonn PhD students in the participating pharma research institutes from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences and the Faculty of Medicine.
The topic-specific research training group of the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft offers a 3-year, English-language PhD program in close coordination between the Faculties of Medicine and of Mathematics and Natural Sciences.
Immunology (in cooperation with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences)
The BIGS Immunosciences and Infection is a structured 3-year PhD program in conjunction with the ImmunoSensation Cluster/Bonn. The ImmunoSensation Cluster is an iniative of excellence funded by The German Research Foundation (DFG).
Molecular Biomedicine (in cooperation with the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences)
BIGS-LIMES offers a graduate program for Bonn PhD students in biochemistry, the life sciences, and biomedicine.
The EU-subsidized doctoral program, which is coordinated at the University of Leiden (NL), links immunology, genetics, and oncology.
