Start-ups at the University of Bonn
University of Bonn receives a 1.4 million EURO funding in the next four years to further strengthen the start-up initiatives of its students and scientists. The Transfer Center of the University, enaCom, won the competition in the call for EXIST 'Potentiale heben', funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
The University will enhance enaComs activities and professionalize its services and offers. In order to qualify and foster businesses derived from science. enaCom offers multiple workshop formats, matching conferences as well as advisory services throughout the founding phases of a start-up.
Our co-working space with different sizes of offices and seminar rooms at our premises encompasses the full range of services to foster businesses and co-operations with companies. enaCom, a point of interest for all start-up enthusiasts in the region.
Numerous patents and many start-ups have emerged from the University of Bonn, among others Rigontec GmbH and IFM Inc. Both arose from the Cluster of Excellence ImmunoSensation. These companies are developing therapeutic solutions based on the scientific results from research within the cluster. Both companies have been commercially very successful.
Computer science is another active start-up field, which we systematically develop as part of the Digital Hub Bonn AG.
WeGrow, founded in 2009 as a spin-off from our research in sustainable resources, has enabled the commercial cultivation of the Kiri tree in Germany, contributing significantly to the future of the sustainable production of wood.
