Our collaborative research unit is a consortium of 8 individual projects with the objective to investigate promising new antibiotic compounds, molecular mechanisms and targets using post-genome era strategies. Our aims are to

  • identify new antibiotic compounds through genome mining and generate structural variants through engineering of biosynthetic pathways and mutasynthesis

  • study new natural compounds as to their molecular mechanisms of action

  • investigate in detail molecular targets as to new aspects of antibiotic mechanisms and innovative therapeutic strategies.
