The Children’s University is a course organized as part of the Youth University of Bonn.

Children's University
Do you want to see what a lecture hall looks like on the inside and feel like a real student? Are you between 8 and 13? Then come along to our Children’s University, where you’ll be able to listen to lectures about some of the exciting things going on in the world of science and research in one of the largest lecture halls at the University of Bonn.
The Children’s University lectures take place on 6 Mondays a semester in the Wolfgang Paul Lecture Hall at Kreuzbergweg 28 in Bonn's Poppelsdorf district. They start at 5 pm c.t. and finish at 6 pm (by the way, c.t. stands for cum tempore, meaning “with delay”—the lectures start a quarter of an hour later) and are free to attend.
Individuals do not need to register, though we would ask school classes and groups of 10 or more to do so in advance by email.

The most recent semester at the Children’s University ended on June 8, and you can read about its program on the web page for the 2026 summer semester.

The Children’s University will resume for the winter semester with a new series of lectures starting in January 2027. We will be publishing the program toward the end of this year.
20 years of the Children's University at the University of Bonn
The University of Bonn’s Children’s University has been in existence since the summer semester of 2003. Last year, it celebrated its 20th anniversary.
The University of Bonn first held its Children’s University in the 2003 summer semester, meaning that it celebrated its 20th birthday in 2023.

Attendance, entry and seating
The Children’s University is free for everyone, and no registration is required.
The lectures are suitable for all young students aged between 8 and 13; adults must be accompanied by a young student!
Naturally, children get first pick of the seats. Lectures are livestreamed for accompanying adults, either in Seminar Room 2 or in the foyer right next to the lecture hall.
Only groups of 10 or more will need to reserve spaces.

Parents or carers will be responsible for their child’s visit (including bringing them and taking them home).
We recommend coming on foot, by bike or by public transport. There are only a handful of parking spaces on site, and there is a charge for parking on University premises. Please obey all the signs at the venue.
Information about photography and filming
The University of Bonn arranges for photographs and videos to be taken during the Children’s University. These will be published online, in printed media and on social media channels for the purpose of its public relations work. By attending the Children’s University, participants (or, as appropriate, their parents or carers) consent to being photographed and filmed as well as to the associated material being stored, published and distributed. Please speak to our team at the venue if you and/or your children do not wish to be photographed or filmed.
