Diversity Strengthens Us

Vice Rectorate for Equal Opportunity and Diversity

At the University of Bonn, a policy for gender equality and diversity is a strategic management and cross-sectional task. Diversity as an opportunity and as a catalyst for excellence is an essential guiding principle of our university. We take a look at social inequalities on structural and action levels and rise to the challenge of eliminating them as best we can.

Prof. Dr. Irmgard Förster has been Vice Rector for Equal Opportunity and Diversity since 2021 and ensures that this guiding principle is firmly anchored in the management of the University.

Strategy

Our University strives for a welcoming culture that is as open-minded and non-discriminatory as possible.  The aim is to value and promote the individual potential of each and every person, and to integrate all members of the University into society in the best possible way, regardless of ethnic origin, gender, sexual identity, disability or chronic illness, religion and ideology, age or social background. The dismantling of discriminatory barriers, the promotion of inclusion and the continuous improvement of the compatibility of family, studies, science and career are essential measures for me as Vice Rector to realise equal opportunities.
