For writing one of the best theses of her year, Kristina Lütjen received the King of Spain Prize. Once a year, Spain, France, the United Kingdom, and the USA present awards for outstanding theses by Bonn students. People like Kristina Lütjen and other award winners, whom we will gradually introduce here, say: We are Uni Bonn.

"For all women of the world"

Empowerment for women through the lyrics of South American and Mexican songs was the topic of Kristina Lütjen's master's thesis. Her own experiences with machismo and sexism also led her beyond personal processing to a scholarly exploration of the topic—and then to the empowering songs. Today, she is very proud of her final thesis at the University of Bonn.

Excellence even as a student at the University of Bonn

Kristina Lütjen is one of the state prize winners, who are honored once a year for their outstanding achievements. She received the King of Spain Prize. The award winners demonstrate "in their final theses and their commitment that they are already achieving outstanding achievements during their studies," explains Prof. Dr. Birgit Ulrike Münch, Vice-Rector for International Affairs at the University of Bonn. And, the Vice-Rector continued, "it is an honor for the university to be able to present these prestigious prizes." This also demonstrates how well the University of Bonn is internationally networked and how positively our work is viewed internationally.
