Career Service Appointment
This career counseling is held in English.
Besides its Karriere-Sprechstunde (held in German), the Career Service at the University of Bonn also offers brief career consultations geared specifically to international students. These Career Service Appointments will be conducted in English and will focus on getting into the German job market.
Have you been asking yourself one of the following questions?
- What can I or do I want to do for a living after I graduate?
- How can I get some work experience while I’m still a student and thus have an easier time finding a job in Germany?
- Are there any particular conditions that are relevant when entering the German job market?
Find answers to these and many other questions about your own personal career planning at a Career Service Appointment.

Feedback:
„The conversation with Dr. Bohne was extremely helpful and provided much needed insight. Contrary to popular advice of mass applications , she focused more on the advantage of selective applications. In a job market which is tense, her words provided a sense of security and compassion which reduced my anxieties. I would recommend any student to get in touch with her for career advice."
(Master student Economics)
"It was a very friendly session full of useful advice. All of my questions were answered, and I came out with less doubts than I had before. I definitely recommend to do it."

"As an international student, it is tough to identify trends and conventions in the German job market. Dr. Bohne did a wonderful job helping not only with navigating the German job market, but in guiding my career search as well. After leaving the meeting, I have actionable next steps to build my career. Dr. Bohne provided insight on changes I can make to my CV, information on workshops for more in depth assistance, information on where and how to find jobs within my field, and opportunities such as an upcoming job fair and certification programs that I didn't even know were available. Overall, the experience was very helpful, and I now have a much better idea on how to build a career in Germany."

"The Career Service Appointment held by Dr. Bohne was very helpful for me. She helped me to make changes to my CV based on German trends and suggested me a Career Fair held at the university. Through the Faculty Career Day of Law and Economics suggested by Dr. Bohne I was able to land a new working student position at a German firm. Dr. Bohne is very friendly and kind and guided me well through the job application process. I highly recommend the Career Service Appointment to international students."
(Master student Economics)
"The Career Service Appointment with Dr. Bohne was a complete success for me. As an international student it is especially helpful since she provides lots of insight regarding German labor opportunities as well as how to obtain them. She had closely studied my CV and the application documents I filled in before attending the appointment, so she had a clear picture of my situation in mind and could offer tailored help and advice. Dr. Bohne is also a very kind and approachable person who makes you feel comfortable and invites you to ask questions. I fully recommend this service to any international student wanting to know more about job opportunities in Germany."
