Final of the ideas competition 2023

On December 6, we invite all interested parties to the grand finale and award ceremony of the Ideas Competition 2023! The event starts at 5 pm and will take place at the Digitalhub (Hauptbahnhof 6, Bonn).

How can we transform diverse, innovative and socially relevant knowledge into creative and innovative ideas? At the final of the Transfer Center enaCom's ideas competition, these ideas will take the first step towards reality. Experience the pitches of the nominees with the best ideas. Be motivated and inspired by the talk with last year's winners. And be curious to see who will win the prizes and thus prize money of up to 1,000 euros. Network with other guests from the university and the region at the get-together.

Prototyping grants #3: AI for research infrastructures, sustainable robots and antiviral nasal spray

Innovations in AI-assisted social sciences, sustainable agriculture and medicine are being funded in the third round of prototyping grants by the Transfer Center enaCom at the University of Bonn. Whether an AI solution for better understanding of scientific communities, a robot that treats weeds differently depending on the species, or a preventive nasal spray - scientists from the University of Bonn and the University Hospital Bonn are developing innovative prototypes for practical challenges of our time. With the prototyping grants, their research findings are prepared for a planned commercialization. The grants with a funding amount of up to €50,000 are regularly awarded by the Transfer Center.

First EXIST Women participants start at the University of Bonn

16 participants have started the first EXIST Women program at the University of Bonn. Funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection (BMWK), the Transfer Center enaCom is supporting the women from four faculties (Mathematics, Philosophy, Medicine and Agriculture) with a one-year program of workshops, mentoring and networking on their way to setting up a business. Ten of the participants will receive a grant of up to a total of 9,000 euros for three months as well as a lump sum of 2,000 euros for material costs to advance their start-up idea. The University of Bonn is one of the first universities in Germany to launch the EXIST Women program.

A Roadmap for the Future of Agrotechnology

How can reducing greenhouse gas emissions, more efficient energy use and animal welfare be balanced even more successfully in livestock farming in the future? This was the question tackled by a team of authors led by Professor Wolfgang Büscher and Inga Tiemann from the Animal Husbandry Technology Department, which is part of the Institute of Agricultural Engineering at the University of Bonn. Their contributions have now been published alongside those of many other researchers in the VDI Roadmap entitled “Agriculture Technology 2030.”

enaCom - enabling people to create opportunities

enaCom is committed to all stakeholders interested in knowledge exchange; researchers and students, as well as practitioners and citizens outside the academic community. Dialogue promotes a broad, research-based transfer of knowledge. We therefore speak both languages, the language of academics and the language of professionals.

enaCom provides individual consulting and assistance to support the multidimensional transfer activities of the University. We always help existing and future partners inside and outside the University and provide unbureaucratic, efficient service.

enaCom is committed to promoting transfer of knowledge and technology. We combine different transfer activities from all research areas of the University. We document successful transfer formats and give them visibility. We present best practice from within the University so that all those interested in transfer may benefit all together. To the outside world, we act as a showcase for the most exciting transfer projects.

enaCom informs about innovative research results close to application. We talk about science offering meet-ups for different stakeholders in business and society. As a central point of contact and gateway for co-operation, we connect all stakeholders inside and outside the University.

enaCom handles all matters concerning utilization of the excellent research results achieved by the University. We provide information on the options available for protecting intellectual property rights and how to bring inventions to start-up.
