New call for the career-building programme for female STEM students

Two weeks full of new experiences, encounters, enriching workshops, introspection and insights - this is what the first group of FEMTEC scholarship holders from the University of Bonn experienced at this year's FEMTEC Winter School. In March, the five students traveled to Berlin for a week of workshops and then visited various companies throughout Germany. The Winter School marks the start of the one-and-a-half-year career-building programme, in which the female students from Bonn are prepared for future leadership roles in business or science. The FEMTEC programme starts twice a year and opens the next call of applications from 15.4.-5.5.2024. All female STEM Master's students are invited to apply!

An amazing journey

"It was an amazing experience and I gained a lot from this school," reports a participant from the first Bonn cohort. The Winter School brought together over 50 female students from the FEMTEC partner universities. In a variety of workshops and seminars, they dealt with topics such as mental health and the promotion of self-confidence and learned methods to strengthen their assertiveness or deal with leadership dynamics.

Insights into companies

During the subsequent company visits, they traveled to companies such as E.ON SE, Procter & Gamble, Porsche AG, Amazon and many more. The scholarship holders were given access to production facilities, research centers, laboratories and different corporate cultures and representatives. Full of new impressions, the students returned to Bonn after two weeks. One participant sums up: "The school was a fruitful experience for me." The group will continue in September with the second of a total of three schools.

New call open until May 5

Anyone who would also like to gain all of these relevant and diverse experiences and insights now has the chance to do so: female students from STEM Master's programs at the University of Bonn can apply for the new round. FEMTEC's English-language programme, which runs alongside their studies, prepares female students with a passion for technology for their career entry and offers them a strong network in the corporate world. The application deadline is May 5, 2024 and the programme will begin in September 2024 for selected scholarship holders.

At an information session, not only will all important questions about the application and participation be answered, but former FEMTEC scholarship holder Carlotta Kopietz will also report on her personal experiences as a so-called "Femteccie". She now works as a data scientist at Deutsche Telekom AG and heads the Cologne-Bonn regional group of the FEMTEC Alumnae Association. Register now for this event: 23.4.2024, 5 pm, Hörsaalzentrum Poppelsdorf.
