Long-term experience in the research of a unique group of immune cells termed innate lymphoid cells (ILC). My scientific focus is to understand how these cells protect the body’s barrier sites such as the lung, skin and gut and to understand how exogenous and endogenous metabolites control the function of ILC in health and disease. The overall aim of this research is to understand the link between westernization and the growing health problem of chronic inflammatory conditions such as asthma and inflammatory bowl disease (IBD).
