Consulting
The University of Bonn offers its researchers and research managers a diverse range of consulting and coaching opportunities, primarily one-to-one sessions. These are held in complete confidence, needless to say, and are available in either German or English.
Individual Counseling
for Researchers (with doctoral degree) and Research Managers
What does it take to make the next career move – whether toward a professorship, a role in research management, or a path beyond academia? And what part do work-life balance, stress management, and personal priorities play in that process? Researchers with a doctoral degree and research managers at the University of Bonn can turn to the Academic Career Development team with exactly these questions – for a confidential one-on-one conversation in German or English.
Dr. Wiebke Deimann has been supporting researchers on their professional development for nearly ten years and works as a trained systemic coach and career consultant in the HR development team at the University of Bonn.
Possible topics for discussion:
- Orientation and positioning within the academic system
- Academic career development
- Career transition: exploring and shaping career paths outside academia
- Career planning and preparation for applications or professorshiop appointment procedures
- Balancing professional responsibilities, family, and personal goals
- Managing stress and competing demands
Book an appointment directly via our online calendar for a confidential conversation.

A Guide for Researchers with a Doctorate
The 2026 UniWinD special publication "Karriereorientierung im deutschen Wissenschaftssystem. Handreichung für promovierte Wissenschaftler*innen" (Career Orientation in the German Academic System: A Guide for Researchers with a Doctorate) provides an overview of the framework conditions for academic career development in German academia, key aspects that researchers with a doctorate should be aware of when planning their careers, and a guide for conversations with academic supervisors.
If you have questions about the content or would like advice on your own career development, please feel free to contact Dr. Wiebke Deimann (see above), who contributed to the publication as a co-author.
You can download the booklet free of charge via the download link. An English version of the publication is in preparation.
