Psychosocial Counseling and Conflict Mediation for Staff (PSB)
All staff at the University of Bonn, the University Hospital Bonn and Hochschule Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences (H-BRS) can seek advice on any personal, professional or welfare-related issue.
The counseling we provide
We are committed to treating one another with respect, being empathetic and taking a holistic view of the individual. We are impartial in everything we do.
Our work is focused on harnessing available resources and finding solutions. We seek to foster a healthy workplace, psychosocial wellbeing, a sense of personal responsibility and the developmental strengths of each individual at all times in a shared spirit of constructiveness and encouragement.
Confidentiality is an important cornerstone of our work, as it allows you to feel well looked after and protected when you take your concern to one of our counselors. We are therefore subject to the statutory duty of confidentiality.
Our counselors are not bound by any third-party instructions, and you can treat your consultation as working time.
We provide advice on:
- Stress in the workplace
- Psychological stress and mental illness
- Management issues (handling stressed employees or conflicts)
- Conflicts
- Changes (in your professional or personal life)
- Stress in your relationship or family
- Crises (e.g. a death or accident)
- Problems with addiction
We offer one-to-one, group and team consultations as well as conflict mediation and supervision.
Service hours and arranging appointments
You should contact the counselors indicated for your staff category directly to make an appointment. Both in-person and video consultations are available.
Consultations are free of charge for the categories of staff listed.

Counseling services for staff at the University of Bonn (excluding the University Hospital Bonn)
The services offered by BG prevent and Stephan Rothes are open to all University staff, including managers. Human Resource Development is also on hand to answer any specific questions about management or leadership.

You can contact the specialists listed below directly and will get a reply within 24 hours on working days. You will be able to have your first consultation within 10 working days of getting in touch.
All the counselors are salaried employees of BG prevent GmbH and are experienced specialists with the relevant training and additional qualifications. The team is very easy to contact and has comprehensive arrangements in place for when counselors have to cover for their colleagues.
