Opportunities for Refugees

The University of Bonn welcomes people with a refugee background. We want to help in your time of need and provide qualification, education and career opportunities. Our “Academic Integration for Refugees” program was created for prospective students with a refugee background. Researchers who have to leave their home countries due to violence and persecution can be nominated by the University of Bonn for funding under the Philipp Schwartz Initiative, allowing them to continue their academic careers in safety. This webpage provides key information on the opportunities offered by the University of Bonn.

Academic Integration for Refugees

The “Academic Integration for Refugees” (FdIS) program offers eligible refugees a free and largely unbureaucratic path to enter into pre-studies that prepare them for later studies at the University of Bonn and integrate them into everyday academic life.

Opportunities for Researchers at Risk

The University of Bonn is actively involved in helping researchers at risk who can no longer work in their home countries due to persecution or violence. We regularly nominate researchers at risk for funding under the Philipp Schwartz Initiative and offer an extensive program of support for those who receive funding. Please contact the Welcome Center for International Researchers for more information on this and other funding opportunities.
