Invitation to professors at the Collège de France to participate in the Ernst Robert Curtius Visiting Professorship at the University of Bonn

The Collège de France in Paris is one of the most renowned academic institutions in France. Its members are internationally prominent researchers in their respective fields. The University of Bonn’s Ernst Robert Curtius Visiting Professorship is a cooperation with the Collège de France that is one of a kind in Germany. Under this program, professors at the Collège can be invited to the University of Bonn to give guest lectures.

The Rectorate has appointed Prof. Dr. Nicolas Wernert and Dr. Willi Jung as representatives for this cooperation.

Funding conditions

The goal of this funding line is to invite professors at the Collège de France from all academic disciplines to give a lecture or series of lectures at the University of Bonn.

All professors at the Collège de France who would like to give a single lecture or a small series of (three to four) lectures at the University of Bonn.

The funding can cover the following:

  • Costs for lodging and stay in Bonn
  • Material expenses for hospitality and event organization (up to € 500 per proposal)
  • The professors’ travel expenses and remuneration are paid for by the Collège de France
  • The contribution of the Ernst Robert Curtius Professorship holder to academic and public life in Bonn
  • Balance in the mix of the professorship holders’ academic disciplines (including natural and life sciences as well as humanities and social sciences)

Post-doctoral researchers at the University of Bonn. The invitee’s consent (no specific form required).

March 25, 2024 (for invitations for the period from October 2024 to September 2025)

  • The proposal (PDF, max. 4 pages), consisting of:
    1. Reasons for the invitation and a description of the intended event
    2. Envisaged time frame for the event or the lecture series
    3. Financial calculation
  • The Collège de France professor’s acceptance of the invitation (PDF, no specific form required)
