Technology Platforms and Competence Hubs
Institutes, working groups, and research consortia, especially in the more technical fields, often share their diverse expertise and equipment with other internal and external scientists. These technology platforms provide expert contacts, and access to instruments may be granted based on individual agreements and scientific cooperation.
AIMBIOS
The Center for Advanced Imaging in the Biology Section (AIMBIOS) provides access to high-quality microscopic imaging equipment that enables the visualization of biological phenomena and structures with high spatial and temporal resolution.
Scientific Service Facilities Chemistry
The Chemical Institutes at the University of Bonn offer services in the areas of mass spectrometry, NMR, single crystal XRD, HPLC, and various workshops.
Protein Synthesis and Bioanalytics
The Protein Synthesis and Bioanalytics (PSBA) department offers services and consulting in the areas of peptide synthesis, protein synthesis (including expression), and the analysis of peptides and proteins.
Competence Hubs
In Competence Hubs, such as those located in the ImmunoSensation Cluster of Excellence, scientists organize themselves around specific new scientific methods in order to coordinate the use of equipment and methodological development. New users can find contacts and available technologies in Bonn for their respective topics here. Competence Hubs currently exist for the following topics: functional genomics, spatial biology, immunotyping, and SWARM learning.
LIMES Technology Platforms
The Life and Medical Sciences (LIMES) Institute offers expertise and equipment in the following areas: imaging, genetic engineering, mass spectrometry, single cell genomics and epigenomics, selection of aptamers.
IMBIO-Lipidomics
The Institute for Molecular Physiology and Biotechnology of Plants (IMBIO) operates a platform for the quantitative analysis of lipids.
Visual Computing Incubator
The Visual Computing Incubator (VCI) at the Institute of Computer Science is a high-resolution capture stage for recording detailed 3D/4D images of real-world people and objects.
Service Platform for Plant Experiments
This organizational unit of the Faculty of Agricultural, Nutritional, and Engineering Sciences supports researchers and teachers in the field of modern crop sciences.
Looking for something else? In the field of life and agricultural sciences, the Bonn Technology Campus (BTC) offers core facilities with standardized terms of use, ranging from flow cytometry and nanobody generation to climate chambers and next-generation sequencing.
Various other digital or technical service facilities also offer their services – from libraries and workshops to digital tools for the humanities and support in research data management.
