Since around 20 years my research focuses on Data Science approaches (statistical Data Mining and machine learning) with specific focus on applications in biomedicine. I am in particular interested in precision medicine and early drug discovery, including systems medicine. Since standard computational approaches often do not yield satisfactory answers to the highly complex questions in these application domains, there is a strong methodological aspect of my work and the work of my team. It includes the development of new algorithms for multi-modal data integration, time series modeling and Hybrid AI. Altogether the work of my team covers a value chain ranging from drug target identification, modeling of biological systems, precision medicine up to AI based approaches for simulation of clinical studies.
