StudierendeWe are pleased that you decided to attend the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms University and welcome you as a new student in Bonn. On this page you will find general information about living  in Bonn as well as specific information about our social support program for foreign students offered by the International Office. New brochure - Inside for International Master Students in Bonn 2016/17

We hope this brochure will make it easy for you to find your way around the University of Bonn and will supplement the subject-specific information available in the departments. The information in this  brochure is for general guidance and has an interdisciplinary focus. 

 
  • Welcome Service for international Master and PhD students

The University of Bonn offer support for Masters students and PhD candidates in the first days/weeks after your arrival in Bonn. The Welcome Service includes information and - where appropriate - an accompany service for the necessary steps in Bonn (e.g. escort to authorities or a pick up service for people with handicap).   • Intercultural Trainings  (in English language)

For international and German students, a two day - intercultural workshop is offered by the International Office! This workshop  takes place from 9 a.m-5 p.m. at the International Club and costs 10 Euros.

  • Certificate of International Competence 

The University of Bonn awards students engaged in extra-curricular activities and intercultural exchange the Certificate of International Competence. Students who attend extra-curricular language courses, lectures or seminars related to an international topic, and who promote intercultural exchange between German and international students may receive credits for the Certificate.

You need to fulfill three of the following four components for completion. In case you're staying for a limited number of semesters, please be aware that you usually need about two semesters to collect all necessary credits. For further Information see here

 
  • German language classes for international students without DSH

These courses are open to regular students who were not required to present a German language certificate upon enrolment. These courses are free of charge.Please find more information on our website "Learning German". 

 

  • International choir

If you like to join our international choir with German and international students just let us know. The rehearsal will take place in the International Club each Monday evening during the semester!

Location: International Club, Poppelsdorfer Allee 53

Head: Mr. Kirchharz
Date: Monday evening from 8-10 p.m. during the semester.
First rehearsal in the summer semester: 24.4.17

  • Support by the Student Union - ASTA Bonn

The General Students' Committee (AStA, short for ‘Allgemeiner Studierendenausschuss’ in German) is the university-wide student representative body. The committee represents student interests before the university, society and politics, and its members are elected by the student government. Get an overview of the AStA's departments:
