University of Bonn among the TOP 100 worldwide in three subjects

The University of Bonn received outstanding results in the QS World University Ranking by Subject published today. According to QS, Bonn ranks among the world's top universities in 20 out of 48 examined subjects. In 2018, Bonn’s best rated subject once again is Mathematics - it placed 42nd worldwide. Agricultural Sciences and Economics are among the TOP 100.

The subject areas Archeology, Biology, Geography, Pharmacy, Philosophy and Physics are all ranked in the 101-150 group. The subject of Earth Sciences, History, Informatics and Medicine rank among the 200 best subjects worldwide in the 151-200 group.

Natural Sciences are the University of Bonn's strongest subject group. They rank 106th place in international comparison, followed by life sciences and medicine in 148th place.

Rector Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Michael Hoch was delighted with the good grades that the ranking-makers have given to the Bonn subject areas: "The once again excellent placements confirm the trend of recent years: Numerous subjects of the University of Bonn are among the best in the world and have an excellent reputation worldwide. On this basis, we are continuously working to further expand our scientific capability as an international research university in global competition."

Methodically, the subject ranking is based on surveys of scientists and employers as well as on the number of citations per scientific publication in the respective subject area.
