Provost Holger Gottschalk

Holger Gottschalk has headed the University Administration since 2017. Qualified in business administration, his main responsibilities include budget management, human resources and legal matters, and construction and property management. The University Administration consists of nine divisions. A further seven units and the Appointment Management and Onboarding team also report to the Provost.

The Provost is a member of the Rectorate and is deputized by Dr Holger Impekoven, the Vice Provost.


The management of university administrations in Germany is continuously developing from classic administration to modern, agile management. For me, an agile administration orients itself closely to the needs of its university members. As Provost of our University of Excellence, I am committed to this strategic process, particularly with a view to the areas of human resource management, digitalization, sustainability and infrastructure.
