Greenhouse cultivation yields high-quality crop foods, but is generally considered to require a lot of energy. Where climate conditions are becoming increasingly extreme however, greenhouses are sometimes the only way to obtain high cultivation yield. Deep Water Cultivation has been invented as a more sustainable method that does away with costly, energy-intensive substrates. Instead, plants are cultivated in water basins containing a nutrient solution.
