Participation in Academic Online Events

As part of the Argelander Program for Early-Career Researchers – Reaching for the Stars the University of Bonn supports the participation of postdocs in academic online events. The overall aim of this funding line is to support the university’s postdoctoral researchers in the development of their academic careers and international scientific networks.

Application Deadlines

You can submit your application anytime. A review takes place on a quarterly basis at the following dates:

March 1, June 1, September 1 and December 1.

Funding Conditions

  • Subsidy to the participation fees for academic online events (e.g. workshops, seminars, conferences).

Non-academic online events are not eligible for funding. The University of Bonn offers a non-academic qualification program PostDoc plus, open to all postdocs at the university.

Please note that we generally only accept invoices that are made out to the University of Bonn as the invoice recipient:

To apply for funding you must be a postdoc at the University of Bonn. Members of the Faculty of Medicine are not eligible for this funding line.

  • Relevance for network and/or academic career development of the applicant,
  • Academic CV of the applicant,
  • Active participation of the applicant in the event, adequate to its format.

The applications are reviewed by an interdisciplinary selection committee consisting of representatives from all participating faculties and chaired by Prof. Dr. Andreas Zimmer, Prorector for Research and Young Scientists.

Please submit your application to the Bonn Graduate Center, using the electronic form accessible via the link above.

The following documents should be attached to the application:

  • Proof of participation fees (bill, screenshot)
  • Academic CV incl. publications
  • Employment contract or scholarship with the University of Bonn

You can submit your application anytime. A review takes place on a quarterly basis at the following dates: March 1, June 1, September 1, December 1.

The review of the applications normally takes four to six weeks from the deadline. Please refrain from any inquiries in this regard during this period of time.
