According to the judging panel, Born’s research has made an important contribution to the continued development of modern macroeconomics and the empirical analysis of monetary, fiscal and economic policy.
“I’m delighted to have received this prize,” Born says. “It acknowledges many years of collaborative research with my co-authors, to whom I owe a lot and with whom I’m sharing the joy that it has brought.”
Alongside his role as Professor for Macroeconomics at ECONtribute, Born is also a research director at the ifo Institute. His research interests include economic cycles and monetary and fiscal policy and combine fundamental macroeconomic analysis with a high degree of economic-policy relevance. His work regularly appears in leading international journals, including “The American Economic Review,” “The Journal of Political and Economy” and “The Review of Economic Studies.”
Born is a research fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) and CESifo and advises bodies including the European Central Bank and European Commission. He is also a member of the European Parliament’s Monetary Policy Expert Panel and the joint CEPR and Euro Area Business Cycle Network (EABCN) Euro Area Business Cycle Dating Committee.
