The research focus of my group are cellular mechanisms contributing to neurodegenerative diseases, especially Alzheimer's disease (AD). I am interested how neuronal networks from the synaptic to neuronal level are disturbed during learning and memory processes under AD-like conditions. Furthermore, I am investigating how microglia influence neuronal networks, neurons and synapses in the context of learning and memory. To address these questions, we apply multiphoton (2P, 3P) in vivo imaging, combine it with opto- and chemogenetics, as well as electrophysiological and behavioral measurements.
