The Falling Walls Foundation has launched its “Global Call for Science Breakthroughs” – an international competition seeking the scientific breakthroughs of the year. The aim of the award is to recognize research and innovation projects that address global challenges with new scientific findings.

The call is open to scientists, innovators, institutions, universities, companies, and individuals worldwide. The winning projects will be presented at the Falling Walls Science Summit in Berlin from November 6 to 9, 2026.

Projects can be submitted in eight categories:

- Life Sciences
- Physical Sciences
- Engineering & Technology
- Social Sciences & Humanities
- Art & Science
- Women's Impact Award (Female Science Talents)
- Science Engagement (Falling Walls Engage)
- Science Start-ups (Falling Walls Venture - each start-up must be endorsed by a nominating institution and already have a prototype/proof-of-concept)

The application and nomination deadline is April 15, 2026.
