Your way to a Doctorate Degree at the University of Bonn

If you are planning to earn your PhD at the University of Bonn, it is vital that you first get in touch with the faculty/PhD Office, as PhD program prerequisites greatly differ from faculty to faculty. The faculty is responsible for granting acceptance to a PhD. It is also important that you find a professor to supervise your PhD thesis before you begin the regular admission procedure.


Please be aware that if you would like to join a Graduate School (a structured PhD. program) the application process may be different! Please contact the administration of your desired Graduate School regarding the entrance requirements!   
After receiving an acceptance letter from the faculty or the Graduate School, you may enroll at the University of Bonn. 
 

  • If you would like to stay and get enrolled only for 1-2 semester at Bonn university you can apply for the visiting student status. Please get further information under sandra.papel@uni-bonn.de
  • Regarding the "Cotutelle Verfahren" please contact the Dean's Office or the PhD office at the designated faculty.
  • Information on scholarships, grants, and loans are available on the DAAD Scholarship Database. Alternatively, visit the websites of several foundations linked in our Scholarship oberview.
