International Choir of the University of Bonn

You enjoy singing and rehearsing together in an international environment? Then we invite you to join the International Choir. No prior experience is required.
What is the International Choir
The International Choir was launched at the International Office of the University of Bonn in winter semester 2010/11 to support and connect international students. Ever since its foundation, it has been directed by Martin Kirchharz. Part of the choir’s repertoire are German and international songs from across the globe. Singers are always welcome to suggest new songs.
When and where does the International Choir rehearse?
(There are no choir rehearsals during the semester break.)
Due to the coronavirus, rehearsals take place online.
Who can join the International Choir?
International students, German students and doctoral students are welcome to join the choir. No prior choir experience is required. You can register at semester start via the dedicated registration form.
10-year anniversary
“If you wanna make the world a better place – let’s get together in a singing way“? is the theme of the International Choir’s anniversary project.
In 2011, its foundation year, the International Choir presented “Man in the mirror” for the first time with about 20 singers. Today, the choir counts over 100 singers. Apart from former choir members, students from partner universities were also invited to join for its 10-year anniversary. Online rehearsals make it possible to take part no matter where you are in the world.
The biggest group of anniversary guests is the Hebrew University Jerusalem choir, directed by Dr. Anat Rubinstein. Students from the partner university in Warsaw also take part. With this project, the International Choir strengthens and expands its international network.
A joint video to “Man in the mirror” is scheduled to be published mid-April. Over 120 singers from more than 30 countries and 5 continents are involved in this project.
In view of the upcoming publication of the video on April 12, 2021, current and former choir members are introduced via short videos on social media. Get to know the project and the choir.
