For Master Students and Ph.D. Candidates without proficient German language skills, we offer the Welcome Service to make your arrival and first steps at the University of Bonn a bit easier. Within the first few days/weeks of your arrival, we would be happy to assist you - on request - with the following administrative procedures:
► Signing a lease*
(Please Note: payment of the first month's rent and security deposit are due at signing. *Service is only offered to students who have received a room in a student residence hall offered by the 'Studierendenwerk')
► Registration at the Registration Office in Bonn
► Opening a Bank Account
► Obtaining Health Insurance
► Enrolling at the University of Bonn
► Contacting the Foreigners' Office for your Residence Permit.
► The Welcome Service includes - in case of a handicap (e. g. physical disability) - your pick up from the train- or bus station in Bonn and the accompaniment to your student dorm (from the Studierendenwerk) or other accommodation facilities (other than a hotel).
The Welcome Service is carried out by students at the University of Bonn. These students will either arrange a private date with you, or will invite you to join a small group of new International Students (due to the large influx of International Students at the beginning of the Winter Semester), to complete the bureaucratic procedures.
