W1 Professorship for Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology and Psychotherapy (with tenure track to W3)

We are looking for a person who can represent both sub-disciplines in research and teaching. High-ranking, international publications on relevant research topics and successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding are required.

The tasks of the professorship include participation and teaching in the consecutive Master's degree program in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy as well as the specialist management of the university Outpatient Clinic for Psychotherapy in Childhood and Adolescence. After transfer to W3, teaching in the field of Clinical Psychology in the Bachelor's degree program Psychology will also be part of the professorship's remit. Activities also include participation in the committees of the academic self-administration.

Prerequisites are a diploma/master's degree in Psychology, a relevant doctorate and relevant experience in academic teaching and counseling or psychotherapeutic treatment of children and adolescents. A license to practice as a child and adolescent psychotherapist and proof of expertise in a guideline procedure—preferably systemic therapy or behavioral therapy—are also required. A willingness to cooperate with the University Hospital Bonn and the LVR Clinic as part of the consecutive Master's program in Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy is required. Participation in the research initiatives of the institute as well as a high level of intra-university and interdisciplinary cooperation within the framework of the Excellence Strategy of the University of Bonn are expressly desired. Proof of positive student teaching evaluations is an advantage.

The appointment requirements are based on § 36 of the NRW Higher Education Act.

Tenure track criteria for the interim and final evaluation

In accordance with the Tenure Track Regulations of the University of Bonn, the first phase of W1 professorships is limited to three years. If the interim evaluation is successful, the second phase follows with three subsequent years. If the final evaluation is positive, a permanent employment relationship is established—in this professorship according to W3.

The criteria for a successful interim evaluation are:

  • Successful participation in teaching in the M.Sc. degree program Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy
  • Successful establishment and professional management of the Outpatient Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
  • Successful research activity measured by publication successes (>9 impact points in the three-year period) and successful application for the acquisition of competitive third-party funding
  • Active participation in university self-administration
  • Participation in research initiatives of the institute or the University of Bonn

The criteria for a successful final evaluation are:

  • Successful participation in teaching in the M.Sc. Psychology with a focus on Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy and cooperation in a possible expansion of the degree program—provided that this is the majority will of the institute and the institutional framework conditions (e.g. LVR, UKB) make this possible
  • Successful professional management of the Outpatient Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy
  • Successful research activity measured by publication successes (>20 impact points in the six- year period) and successful acquisition of competitive third-party funding
  • Active participation in university self-administration
  • Participation in research initiatives of the institute or the University of Bonn
