State Secretary Dr. Dirk Günnewig pays a visit

Dr. Dirk Günnewig, State Secretary in the Ministry of Culture and Science of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, came to the University of Bonn on Tuesday to find out about the work that it is doing in its capacity as a University of Excellence. His visit focused on the University’s strategy for the future and its commitment to sustainability across the board.

Annette Scheersoi introduced him to the Bonn Program for Sustainable Transformation (BOOST), a whole-of-institution approach in which participation and student involvement play a particularly prominent role. The State Secretary was shown a service learning project about the innovative use of coffee grounds as a barbecue lighter, a shining example of sustainability in teaching.
