Start-up Taxpeer Wins Taxcellence Award Start-up Taxpeer Wins Taxcellence Award

Innovation prize for AI solutions in the tax industry

The young company Taxpeer, a spin-off from the University of Bonn, has won first place in the “Start-ups” category of the prestigious Taxcellence Award 2024. With its AI-based learning platform for future tax experts, the team impressed not only the expert jury but also received the most votes in the public ballot. The award marks another milestone in the success story of the start-up, which was founded in August 2024.

The Taxcellence Award honors innovations in the tax sector that set new standards through digital solutions. The ceremony takes place annually as part of the two-day Tax Technology Conference in Frankfurt. As winners, Taxpeer is entitled to use the award seal and will be featured both on the Taxcellence Award website and in the trade journal Rethinking Tax — significantly boosting the start-up’s visibility within the industry.

Taxpeer is the first platform in the tax sector to focus entirely on digital exams in preparation for the demanding tax advisor exam, which is known for its exceptionally high failure rate. Among other features, the solution provides individualized AI feedback to optimize the learning process and enable realistic exam preparation. Candidates on the platform can practice with the same digital exam editor that will be used in October 2024 for the tax advisor exam in Baden-Württemberg and Schleswig-Holstein.

“With our learning platform, we are helping to equip future tax experts with the best possible tools for the digital tax advisor exam,” says Fabian Mantsch, co-founder of Taxpeer. “Winning the Taxcellence Award is a great honor and would not have been possible without our team. At the same time, this recognition motivates us to continuously improve our platform and expand our pioneering role in the industry.”

The founders first gained recognition by winning the University of Bonn’s Ideas Competition in 2023, and have since been supported by the university’s enaCom Transfer Center. In 2024, the team also secured an EXIST start-up grant from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.

“We congratulate the two founders on these outstanding achievements! Taxpeer really took off last year, and I am certain we will see many more exciting developments from this team in the year ahead,” says Sandra Speer, Head of the Transfer Center enaCom, which has closely supported Taxpeer from the very beginning.
