Carnival - the fifth season in the Rhineland is starting soon. We would like to bring you and your family closer to this special tradition of customs - from a historical but also from a current point of view - with delicious pastries, snacks and drinks. As you may already know: the most important part of Carnival is a costume. We therefore look forward to welcoming you, your partner and your family in costume to spend a great time together. Exibition Visit "The first people in the Rhineland"

The first people settled in the Rhineland around 600,000 years ago. Who were these people? Why did they come to our region so late? Changes in the climate and environment played a central role in this. In the tour, which will be held in English, the latest scientific findings on climate and evolution, but also the life of these first people in the Rhineland are considered.

Guided tour to Cologne Cathedral and Old Town

Enjoy an exclusive guided English tour to Cologne, Germany's fourth largest city nearby Bonn. We will start with admiring the world-famous Cologne Cathedral from the inside and continue our city walk through the Historic Town, visiting ancient market squares, the banks of River Rhine and discover ancient artifacts from Cologne's Roman past dating back 2000 years. After the 2,5-hour tour, we will stop at a traditional Cologne brewery/bar to have some drinks and snacks (at its own expenses). Welcome Event & Guided Campus Tour for International Researchers

This event is targeted to all international researchers (with or without work contract at Bonn University) who have recently started working or will soon start working with us. At first, you will learn a few things about your new workplace – the university – and your new (temporary) home – Bonn. This welcome event will be hybrid. Following, we will have a guided campus tour around the main builiding, Hofgarten and Academic Art Museum for all of you who are already in Bonn. Double Concert at Bonn Jazz Festival

Enjoy a unique double concert at the Bonn Jazz Festival. In Bach Comprovised, pieces by Johann Sebastian Bach are recomposed and improvised live on stage for the first time - artistic and entertaining at the same time. In interaction with the award-winning Dogma Chamber Orchestra, the rhythmic abstractions of well-known Bach melodies open up musical spaces and create a thrilling atmosphere that the musicians and the audience experience together. Thomas D, well-known German hip-hop musician & The KBCS, an instrumental jazz band, give the rap star's timeless hits a new, jazzy, casual look.

Hiking tour in the Siebengebirge

We invite you and your family to a hiking tour in the beautiful natural surroundings of Bonn. The tour will start with a great view of the Dornheckensee and gives you a first look over Bonn. The highlight will be the Rabenlay Skywalk. From there you have a clear view of the Rhine Valley, Bonn and the Siebengebirge. The tour then goes away from the Rhine, through the forest and along country lanes to the excavation site of the historic hall church in Holtorf, passing by a playground for the little ones. The tour will last around 3 hours and we will only follow easy walking paths.

Boat trip on the river Rhine

A boat trip on the Rhine is an experience for the whole family. Over a length of almost 14 kilometers, the Rhine flows through Bonn and shapes the face of the city. We will travel by ship to Bad Honnef, there you will have time to explore the beautiful city before returning by ship to Bonn.
