Gaining International Research Experience

Our Santander Grantees

Through the competitive Santander International Exchange Grants, the University of Bonn supports doctoral students in building international networks and enhancing their academic profiles by facilitating research stays abroad or—in the case of doctoral students from strategic partner institutions—in Bonn. The Santander International Exchange Grants are funded by Santander Consumer Bank AG as part of the "Santander Universities" program and awarded by an interdisciplinary selection committee at the University of Bonn. On this page, you will find a list of past recipients in chronological order, along with their destination countries.

Feedback from Grantees

"The research stay was a highly enriching experience and very valuable for my upcoming career steps. I was able to connect with leading scholars in my field, learn a lot from the professor I visited, and make substantial progress on my dissertation projects. It was an inspiring and rewarding experience that would not have been possible without the grant."  (Grantee 2025)

“My desire has been to build an international network and a solid foundation for my academic career. The Santander Grant has made my dream a reality!“  (Grantee 2023)
