At the heart of the issue is P26, the University’s new science communication centre located in downtown Bonn. Designed as an open space for dialogue between academia and the wider public, P26 aims to promote inclusive, transparent, and interdisciplinary exchanges on science and society.

Another central topic is the International Days 2024, which brought together researchers, students and international partners to explore the role of universities in times of global transformation. The conversations made one thing clear: international cooperation remains key to solving global challenges.

The issue also introduces the Bonn University Ambassadors – a global network of former Bonn researchers who now act as science ambassadors in their respective regions and disciplines.

Further articles delve into the ethical implications of artificial intelligence and the evolving role of bioethics in the face of climate change and global inequality. One contribution takes a critical look at the commercial and historical dynamics of professional football, raising the question: Are top athletes caught in a system of elite exploitation?

Many articles are also available as part of the University’s podcast series forsch gelesen – ideal for listening on the go.
