The degree program is geared toward training professionals for the demanding work required to protect others against sexualized violence and the abuse of power. Graduates will leave with scientifically sound, practically relevant skills enabling them to devise prevention strategies, support processes of intervention in a professional way and help organizations to put lasting protection structures in place.
The one-year master’s degree program providing further education has a practical focus and is designed for professionals working in various sectors of society (such as the Church, sports, youth and social work, the police and the administration) who are keen to gain new skills in prevention, institutional prevention strategies and intervention in cases of sexualized violence and the abuse of power.
“Having the four universities working together means that the degree program combines academic and scientific expertise from a range of disciplines and practical experience from relevant areas of society,” says Professor Jochen Sautermeister from the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Bonn, who is in charge of the degree program. “It’s a unique opportunity for anyone who’s responsible for protection, prevention and professional intervention at their company or organization.”
Applications are now open and close in mid-August. Applicants will need a bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject and evidence of skills acquired outside a higher-education setting. A fee of €5,450 will be charged for the degree program.
