Souleymane Bachir Diagne can be described as a global intellectual who divides his time between the United States, France, and Senegal. His philosophy of translation and dialogue between Africa and the West, Islam and modernity, uniquely intertwines the history of African, Islamic, and European thought with political philosophy.
