Pueblo Uru Chipaya (1978 - 2018)
The album “Pueblo Uru Chipaya: Música y Cultura de Bolivia” (IFEA-MUSEF 2018) was presented in the Municipalty of Santa Ana de Chipaya, with the participation of members of the Chipaya community and the recordist Xavier Bellenger (1956-2020), who had kept the sound recordings unpublished since they were recorded in 1978. In this talk, Mariano Rosales, who participated in the production of the album as a researcher and sound engineer, will present the experience of these trips to Santa Ana, discussing different aspects about the historical archives, the musicological research involved, and the restitution of these historical archives.
