The late medieval history of the Middle East, the Eastern Mediterranean and Inner Asia, mainly: the coming of the Turks and Mongols to the Middle East; the Mamluk Sultanate; the Mongol Ilkhanate; the Crusades and Muslim responses; military history; Islamization; late medieval Arabic epigraphy; Eretz-Israel/Palestine in the medieval period.
