The focus of my lab is the identification and preclinical testing of new therapies against parasitc helminths, which is done in close collaboration with partners from industry and non-profit organizations. Furthermore, my lab studies protective immune responses against filariae, especially the protective role of eosinophils and the contribution of extracellular DNA traps (ETosis). Finally, I am interested in the filarial immunomodulation and its beneficial impact on life-style diseases such as diet-induced insulin resistance. For our research we use the Litomosoides sigmodontis animal model and conduct studies with filariasis patients with partners in Cameroon.
