My research focus is on medicinal chemistry of membrane proteins. We are interested in purinergic receptors and related G protein-coupled orphan receptors including G proteins, as well as ectonucleotidases involved in purinergic signal transduction. A broad spectrum of methods is utilized for our research projects including chemical synthesis of bioactive molecules and labelled compounds (molecular probes), (bio)analytical studies, assay development, structure analysis of drug-protein complexes, in vitro pharmacology, and molecular biology. In vivo studies of our compounds are performed in collaboration with colleagues in biology and medicine. My group runs two platforms, a chemical analytics platform with a focus on quantitative analysis, and a compound library with a unique collection of small synthetic molecules and natural products.
