All 38 Studierendenwerk buildings at the University of Bonn have been powered exclusively by green electricity since January 1, 2022, which will mean roughly 1,000 tons less in CO2 emissions each year. The University underwent this full changeover as part of a tendered project together with other Studierendenwerk organizations and universities of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia.
Plans are in place for the year ahead to expand solar systems on suitable rooftops of Studierendenwerk buildings in a move to further advance sustainability.
