Day 1:
Getting to know each other, Watching/listening to a Ted Talk speech for gist, Discussing the main ideas of the speech, Gathering & discussing new vocabulary, Listening for details, Ranking & critical thinking, Reviewing

Day 2:
Watching/listening to a Ted Talk speech in a breakout room, Group work: preparing pros and cons, Debating with all participants in the main session

Day 3:
Picking one out of three Ted Talk speeches , Watching/listening to them on your own, Preparing an evaluator pitch, Giving your evaluator pitch, Polling for the best pitch, Feedback

Frequently asked questions

Is there a charge for the event?

No. Human Resources Development will cover the costs.

An event is fully booked, is there a waiting list?

Yes, if an event is fully booked, we will put you on the waiting list. You will then move up if a place becomes available again in time before the start of the event.

Are the premises accessible without barriers?

The premises in the "Alte Sternwarte" are only accessible to a limited extent. If you need assistance with access, please contact the indicated contact person in time, so that we can support you accordingly on the day of the event.

Is childcare available during the event?

If you need childcare during an event, please contact the Family Office of the University of Bonn.

Are external persons also allowed to participate in the event?

In order to be able to participate in the training offers of the Human Resources Development of the University of Bonn, you must have an employment contract with the University of Bonn, be an enrolled PhD student, be active in research for the University of Bonn or be an associated member of a research network.

What does certificate or certificate of attendance mean?

For all our event offerings, you will generally receive a confirmation of participation in the event and of its contents.

In addition, we are currently developing a certificate offering along the three "Career Tracks": "Research", "Research Management" and "Business & Organizations". More information will be available soon on the related page of the certificate program: Postdoc plus.

If the currently displayed event can be credited to one of the three "tracks", this is indicated accordingly.
