Erasmus Traineeship
Organization and procedure

After Your Stay Abroad

Finished your Erasmus traineeship and looking to get an overview of what you need to do once you’re back home? We can help you with that.

What do I need to do in order to get the second installment of my Erasmus grant?

Documents and procedure

Traineeship Certificate (Learning Agreement after the Mobility) (PDF)
Notes on completing the EU survey (PDF; only available in German so far)
Notes on writing your personal report (PDF)
Proof of recognition for compulsory traineeships
Diploma Supplement

Upload your Traineeship Certificate to your Mobility-Online account within four weeks of your study placement coming to an end.

You should also complete the EU Survey at the same time, which you will be asked via email to do. Read the Notes on completing the EU Survey when you do so.

You will then receive your second Erasmus installment (30% of the total).

Using the notes to help you, write a personal report in your Mobility-Online account for the benefit of future Erasmus trainees.

Compulsory traineeship
Compulsory traineeships are recorded in BASIS or via a note in another departmental document alongside the number of ECTS credits obtained, the grade if applicable, and a note in the Diploma Supplement.

For practical years forming part of medicine, pharmacy and law degree programmes, please submit your summons from the State Examination Office for your last state examination.

Voluntary traineeship
You will also need to obtain recognition for a voluntary traineeship by means of a note in your Diploma Supplement, which you will need to request from your Examination Office.

The Diploma Supplement complements your bachelor’s or master’s certificate. It is written in English in a standardized form and contains supplementary information about the content of your studies, how they have progressed, etc. It is automatically included in your degree certificate. Please ask your Examination Office or dean’s office if you need more information.

If you fail to submit the documents requested by the stated deadlines without good reason, you will be barred from receiving any more funding and will be required to return all of the mobility grant you have already been paid.

The Erasmus regulations state that only students who have submitted all required documents can receive a grant.

How can I get involved in intercultural exchange?

As a UN city with an international outlook, Bonn offers you numerous possibilities for continuing to meet people from other countries after your Erasmus experience is over.

At the Erasmus Student Network (ESN) for instance, you yourself can help to ensure that visiting students from other countries get settled in Bonn in no time.

In the “Europa macht Schule” (“Europe meets school”) project you can bring visiting students from other countries together with school classes and help to show schoolchildren Europe from different angles. The Project Back to School gives you the chance to share your own experiences of living abroad.

Our Certificate of Intercultural Competence web page has a list of international student clubs at the University of Bonn as well as many other activities offered both within and outside the University. It also tells you how the certificate can help you obtain accreditation for your extracurricular engagement with an international flavor.
