Coming to Bonn without a job contract at the University of Bonn
If you are not (going to be) employed by the University of Bonn and you are not (going to be) enrolled as a student in Bonn, the Welcome Center is your main contact point besides your host institute. Your host institute will register your stay with us, personal details being added by yourself.
A Fellowship Agreement (in case you will receive funding by the University of Bonn) or a Guest Researcher Agreement (if your stay is financed in any other way) will then be issued, as well as a Uni-ID for IT.
If you are a citizen of a country outside the EU, the Welcome Center will provide you with the hosting agreement that you need to apply for a researcher visa.
Furthermore, you will receive a guest researcher card, which will show your affiliation with the University of Bonn. It can be used to apply for a ULB library card, gives you the right to pay employee prices at StWB restaurants/ Mensa and enables you to participate in University Sports.
The Welcome Center for International Researchers will of course also be happy to support you with advice on and assistance in any other practical matter of your move to, and your stay in Bonn. You will find many relevant issues addressed on our webpages here.
After the registration by your host institute you will receive email invitations for our informative, cultural and social events, which cater to international researchers especially. You will also automatically be informed at the right times on how to enroll in German language classes at the University of Bonn.
