Neurosciences

The master's degree program Neurosciences is a research-oriented, international degree program with the main goal of providing talented students with a comprehensive education in the rapidly expanding field of neurosciences. Students are prepared for careers in research or a related medical or biological field.

A key point of focus in the program is practical research experience in the laboratories of the participating departments and research groups. The first two semesters lay the foundation consisting of required courses in neuromorphology, neurophysiology and molecular neurobiology as well as statistics, scientific writing and research ethics. Students then have the possibility to focus on one of these fields or choose from a broad spectrum of other areas such as neuroethology, neurogenetics, neuropharmacology, clinical neurosciences, cognitive neurosciences, reconstructive neurobiology, etc.

Possible lines of work:

Academia/neurobiological basic research (teaching/research at universities, research institutions), work in hospitals and specialized medical practices (e.g. neurology, neuropathology, psychiatry etc.), private sector: Development/production/marketing (pharmaceutical or medtech industries), academic publishing/scientific journalism, coordinative functions in neuroscience organizations
