Nacht der Technik 2025

"Nacht der Technik" at the University of Bonn

The "Nacht der Technik Bonn/Rhein-Sieg" is in its fourth edition and the University of Bonn is once again represented with its own stations.

On Friday, September 26, 2025 the university will be one of many places in the region opening its doors to showcase technical innovations through interactive experiments in astronomy, geodesy, computer science, agricultural engineering, mathematics, physics, and robotics.

You can immerse yourself in the world of technology at two locations:

  • At Informatik-Zentrum on Campus Poppelsdorf (from 6.00 p.m. - 12.00 a.m. ) and
  • at the ARITHMEUM, the university museum on the history of mechanical computing, at Hofgarten (from 6.00 - 10.00 p.m.).

Anyone interested can come along to the program without a reservation or ticket and participate free of charge. Students from Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg district can also visit all the stations at "Nacht der Technik Bonn/Rhein-Sieg" free of charge with the YoungTalent ticket.

    What is there to see?

    At Informatik-Zentrum:

»Robots, AI & you — of learning machines, laser shows & virtual worlds: Interactive hands-on activities in robotics, computer science, geodesy, agricultural engineering, physics, and astronomy«

     At ARITHMEUM:

    • Guided tour "Arithmeum Then and Now"
    • Workshop "Calculating with machines"
    • Lectures on various topics

    Informatik-Zentrum

    Friedrich-Hirzebruch-Allee 8, 53115 Bonn | 6 p.m. - 12 a.m.

How great would it be if a robot tidied up the room? Or if you could attend meetings from home and still be there in 3D?

It is precisely these kinds of ideas that are becoming a reality at Informatik-Zentrum of the University of Bonn:

Whether it's household robots, virtual reality, laser shows, or innovations in astronomy, geodesy, agricultural technology, and physics — find out what's already possible today!

    ARITHMEUM - calculating museum

    Lennéstr. 2, 53113 Bonn | 6 - 10 p.m.

How did people actually do calculations before computers and calculators existed?

Why did the “Arithmaurel” calculator win the gold medal?

How exactly were messages encoded using the Enigma encryption machine, and why was it ultimately possible to decrypt them even though it was considered “unbreakable”?

Answers to these and other questions can be found at the "Nacht der Technik" in workshops and lectures at the ARITHMEUM museum.
