In the first part, we will talk about one of Open Science requirements, Research Data Management (RDM): a range of activities and topics relating to the handling of digital research data. Here you will learn about best practices for collecting, organizing, documenting, publishing and archiving research data in digital systems according to the FAIR Principles (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable).

In the second part, we will focus on Open Access and the related services offered by the university. The University of Bonn supports Open Science and strives to increase the proportion of its publications that are made available through Open Access. We will talk about current institutional agreements between the university and different publishers , e.g. the publish & read agreements with Elsevier, Wiley, and Springer Nature ("DEAL"). You will learn how they work and what other options you have for publishing your work in open access, e.g. with financial support through our Open Access Publication Fund. You will also gain insight into self-archiving (Green Open Access) and the options provided by our institutional repository bonndoc.
